In this workshop, we will discuss how to set up your relationship with the instructor you work with to be a success throughout the semester. Communicating clearly, understanding your instructor’s goals and your role for the semester, and being aware of resources to help you will be key in this session.

Connecting Across Cultures & Languages in the Classroom

This workshop is primarily intended for international TAs, but could be valuable for anyone working with students who have varying cultural or language backgrounds. During this session, we will discuss the differences you may experience between your home institutions at the UW-Madison, and how to encourage productive communication with your students in class. We will also explore the Canvas tool Name Coach. Coffee included!

Technology Tips & Tricks for Teaching

Navigating Challenges with Students in Distress

Do you feel unprepared to help students who are dealing with difficult situations in their lives? Do you wonder what you can do to ease some of their burden? You’re in luck! This workshop will help you determine not only what to say in the moment, but what resources on campus will be most helpful to that student depending on their situation. We will help you be a supportive force in your students’ lives while still maintaining boundaries on your personal time! Lunch included!
