How to Use the Spaces

Technical Support: On the day of your class, you won’t be left on your own. A CEETE consultant can be on hand as you launch your first sessions, and our staff is available in person and by phone or email during class times for any hiccups. We ensure that the technology enhances your teaching rather than gets in the way.

Pedagogical Support: Beyond the hardware, we offer pedagogical coaching. Not sure how to structure a 50-minute active learning class? We can help you plan a sequence (e.g., a brief intro, a 10-minute think-pair-share, a group worksheet activity, then whole-class discussion). Our goal is to make adopting active learning as smooth as possible for faculty. And if you’re ready to redesign an entire course, CEETE is here to partner with you every step of the way.

In summary, reserving and using an ALC is straightforward and well-supported: you bring the enthusiasm to innovate, and we provide the space and guidance to make it successful.

For Students: The Active Learning Classrooms aren’t just for scheduled classes – they’re part of your learning community, too. When not in use for courses, many of these rooms are open for student use. You can reserve an ALC or study room for study sessions or team meetings (via EMS room reservation system), or simply drop in during open hours. Need a place to practice a group presentation? Reserve a room and take advantage of the projectors and speaker system. Many project teams hold their meetings in Wendt Commons: you can brainstorm in the ALC with all the multimedia tools at your disposal, then walk over to the makerspace to prototype your idea – all in the same evening.
