One-on-one consultation with an instructional design specialist or instructional technologist to discuss course design, implementation strategies, and research-based best practices for engineering education. We can answer your questions about pedagogical methods and assessment strategies.
Do you want to implement something new in your course or restructure it completely? We help you apply the design process to your course so that your instruction is based on desirable outcomes for your students in a positive, inclusive learning environment.
Are your students achieving learning outcomes? Want to build a case of success for ABET? We can help you design course assessment tools and implement strategies to assess your teaching. We can also provide a neutral third party to give students a feedback space during the semester so you can address areas of improvement before instructor evaluations.
Have questions about Canvas? Are you using an active response system in your classroom and need support? Do you want to learn how to implement a new activity in your Learning Management System or need general training? Our team provides Walk-In support from 10am-4pm Monday through Friday in our offices (Kurt F. Wendt Commons, 4th floor). We also offer support by phone (608) 265-1178 and via email ceete@engr.wisc.edu and will respond within one business day.
Applying the rigorous assessment of research to our teaching is the best way to improve the educational experience of undergraduates. We can collaborate with you and provide support to implement teaching-as-research including IRB coaching, grant writing, and assessment development.
Coffee and conversations, round table discussions, training, and custom designed workshops. Have something you want to learn more about? Tell us!
Would you like us to observe your class and provide feedback? We can also gather anonymous feedback from your students through a process called Small Group Instructional Diagnosis (SGID).
Interested in incorporating videos or other technology into your course? We’ll help you find the best solutions for your teaching and learning needs. We can assist with UW-supported tools like Kaltura and Blackboard Collaborate Ultra. We can also connect you with the right support for other tools like Top Hat.
The Wednesday and Thursday before each semester the New Educators Orientation program teaches new Teaching Assistants what to expect their first day of teaching and beyond. TA’s will receive university mandatory training at the 2 day session and get firsthand experience in lesson planning and delivery.
